One Restaurant and Lounge in Gastown

More malaise for Gastown. Evan (one of the owners) leaves Curious on Powell Street and now people are speculating to its demise. and now… One Restaurant appears to be closed.

RIP One Restaurant. We a great event there but I feel that there could’ve been more engagement from their side on the promotions angle.

Now they’re closed for the count. Looks like the screens have been pulled out and the place vacated. A notice on the front door depicts an apology for being closed. The notice on the inside appears to be a notice of termination of lease.

Re the comment on Curious. I’m a bit irked from the situation there. Our social events organization, the Social Empire, had a deal with the restaurant pertaining to an event. The partner with whom we negotiated the details left the restaurant/partnership. Upon reconfirming for the event, we were greeted with a renege.

Better to find out that there are problems early, I guess.

On a positive note, Video Monster right next door appears to be doing well. Duran and Naomi are always upbeat and good to the people who come through the door.

    Got any other suggestions for a lounge in the gastown area? Preferably something that has live djs in on weekend evenings.

    Right now.. nothing but according to Nina’s restaurant scoop, HERE.

    Looks like there will be something in the next few weeks… Also, Canvas Lounge will be opening up as a bar/club on the 28th.. I believe this month but may be next month?

    Well, on the 28th of April, there’s the JetSet Crew “Matador” Mexico Themed event so probably this month. I’ll get more information and create a new blog posting on it.
