Great event, lots of awesome costumes. I spent some time making myself up with a bit of liquid latex and a really hot knife. The results were said to have been gruesome – damn did it ever hurt putting that stuff on, check the pics in detail here.
My friend Brian Farlinger, who I invited to come along said it was the best Halloween party he’d ever been to. That’s always great to hear. Thanks to Craig and Jamie who throw such magnificent events.
Great event at C’hi (or is it Ch’i oh wait, it could just be Chi). Chi is located on Nanaimo and 2nd, basically a couple blocks on the east side of town. Good location and lots of new faces (people who are members from the neighbourhood). They were really generous to us with the food and drinks. Lots of edamame dip with chips and crab cakes and an awesome couple drinks – the Lychee Mojito and the Lychee Margarita. Very yummy! Thanks to Alex and Janet Vu for making the night a success. Actually.. the whole night, the food, the drinks and the people.. yummy!
It was good to see members like Ted Schredd show up too – Ted’s famous from his company Discover Fun. It seems he likes to really have fun and sometimes puts himself in a bit of peril to do so. Either way, he makes me laugh – mission accomplished.
Other notable guests were Robert Shaw (stagename Robert Lee) who performed some magic for us at dinner (at the end of the night) and Sal and Alain from Fishing 4 Love. They’re doing a documentary on singles in BC. Hopefully the the result is good from their efforts – truly nice people.

Dick Hardt, Roland Tanglao and the gang gave their presentations on Web 2.0. Dick gave his famous Identity 2.0 speech (his laptop was working a bit slow though). My favourite portion of the evening was having Paul Kedrosky speak a bit about getting your fucking head out of the tag cloud. Literally, the presentation was entitled “Get Your Head Out of the F*cking Tag Cloud”. He alluded to the economy and the lower cost of the startup being the driver for Web 2.0 business. Let’s see where Web 2.0 goes.
One cool item of note, Paul Kedrosky’s personal site seems to hit #1 with the keyword greed. I suspect he’s done alot of good work to make it happen. More about him here.
In the interim, check out the pics here. Not much for quality, the inside of Vancovuer’s Science World isn’t suited for digital photography – unless you have a big lens and a bright flash.
