Blowin’ off steam

Last month… gee.. it’s been a month already. Anyhow, it’s Saturday night. I’ve been working my butt off on the new content for the Urban Mixer newsletter, media kit et. al and it comes up to about 2am. I’m thinking to myself that I’m going to bust loose out to Shine for a drink.

On the way there, I see Dick’s car (an unmistakable Porsche Carrera GT). Of course, warm summer night, top is down and everyone’s gawking. I pulled up beside him and asked what he was up to, he was game for a drink down at Shine.

A good night, we also checked out Sonar but they were closed down (Police, over capacity, the bouncers were being bitchy as usual) so we called it a night and parted ways. I went out for a little bit of food ala Denny’s then headed home.

This only happens once in a while, usually in the summer. I get home so late, before the sun comes up. You look out and up at my place and I’m pretty much the only one with the lights still on at home (I always leave something on like a lamp, just one of those things). I’m the only one up while the whole building sleeps.

What to do when you’re still wired from the evening and you haven’t really blown off enough steam? Go for a blade on the seawall while the sun is coming up.

The city’s really something else at dawn.

Air’s fresh and crisp.

It’s relatively quiet out at Stanley Park.

The views are magnificient.

The people you meet… they’re something else too! After recovering from a 360 jump poorly executed, I came across a fellow who’d been sitting on his bench all night just watching. Watching the cruise ships come in, watching the north shore, smoking pot. Pretty much paralysis.

After that, I had a great sleep. Just what the doc ordered!
