There’s also been closures. Hot Dog Johnny’s didn’t make it. Brass Monkey is closed for renos. When I walked by yesterday, they had changed the name of the place – it’s now going to be called Central with the tagline of Eat, Drink and Play.
A casual little Italian café on Denman between Robson and Alberni. My favourite is their green apple juice. Very refreshing. They seem to have a new creation daily and they have decent music and free WiFi. A great place to park for the afternoon. Limited seating for less than 10, tho. I think they’re poising to push the catering angle.
Already spoke about this place in a previous blog. Chef Jacob continues to whip up unique sushi-inspired creations. My favourite? The mini hand roll, real crab California roll.
My favourite of the Izakaya-style restaurants in the city. Whenever I crave meat, I go here. My favourite, too hard to decide. The avocado tofu works well with nacho chips, the tsukuune is an overall crowd pleaser, the bacon-wrapped asparagus, a classic.
New place – they sell (Koziol) housewares, books and food. Menu is small, I’ve been there twice now and I’m sick of the menu. Hope they change it soon. I was not able to conduct my crème brulée evaluation at my last appearance, they had run out of both of their varieties and the ones they had in the back hadn’t set yet.
Incidentally, had the trio brulée at Cioppino’s on Friday. A wonderful conculsion to a great lunch with a new acquaintance.
Love it! A simple burger place that specializes in providing excellent value to customers by doing what they do well. My biggest criticism to Vera’s Burger down the street (just a block away) is that they really overengineer their burger. Too much meat, too much topping and a soggy bun.
Not so at Fat Burger, they put what’s just right. The bacon has a hint of maple, it’s delicious! I love the chili – especially on the Coney Island hot dog. They have a variety of Tabasco sauces at the table to spice things up and their strawberry milkshake contains real strawberry. Can you say yummy?!
