This has happened to me twice recently. Today, I went down to Capers. I thought I’d liberate my spare Fuspoint Managed Services Golf Umbrella for a little while and enjoy the rain while in it’s care. I dropped the behemoth umbrella in a pail set aside for umbrellas. After shopping, I noticed the umbrella to be missing. At least it wasn’t my prized Louis Vuitton (LV) umbrella.

Last time, it was a similar situation, I went out to the Lions’ Pub in the Terminal City Building. I left my trustly LV umbrella at the front umbrella recepticle. When I returned from my meeting, it was gone.

Of course this probably has something to do with umbrella karma… I used to be horrendously careless with umbrellas – the total number of Louis Vuitton umbrellas that I have lost in the last few years totals six or approx. $3000 in umbrellas:

• Left an LV Monogram umbrella in an aircraft en route to Tokyo, realized it was gone upon my arrival at my home in Tokyo
• Left an LV Spruce Taiga umbrella in Hong Kong’s International airport on the platform prior to boarding the train which takes you to the boarding gates, realized it was gone upon my return to my office in Hong Kong
• Left an LV Monogram umbrella in Tokyo on the subway, realized it was gone when I got off the subway
• Left an LV Monogram umbrella at a bar in Calgary, what was I thinking?
• Left an LV Monogram umbrella at TCC Lions’ Pub, it was missing upon my return to collect it from the front recepticle where I left it

Needless to say, the staff at LV in Pacific Centre always ask me how my umbrella is doing.

I think if I ever lose my current LV umbrella, I’ll have to replace it with a Hermes model this time around – perhaps I’ll have better luck with that.
