Okay, the morning was crummy and foggy – the afternoon however, was beautiful!
After my rollerblade through Stanley Park this afternoon (felt a bit sluggish on the blades, did a rotate of the wheels but didn’t lube, I think the bearings on my blades need some oil badly….) I headed home and grabbed a change of clothes and headed down to Pacific Crab Company to chat with Brian Yip about throwing an event there. We met with Carrie Chin, Kevin Negoro and Brian and it looks like we have a tentative date for November for the Social Empire!
One interesting item that was mentioned was that Kevin is thinking of doing cooking classes as a piece of promotion for the restaurant. A brilliant idea, I think! I’m sure we’ll have the opportunity to capitalise on the situation.
After dinner, I went to my first event of the evening, the Newly Single Meetup at SOHO Cafe and Billiards. The service there stank, probably will not return there. At the same time, I found that Tyrone the supposed organizer has never been to any event. The event was a mixed bag – not anyone of consequence. Some people are single because they choose to be, others are because of natural selection.
After the meetup, I travelled back home – totally forgot that I had another engagement for the night. Upon returning and speaking to Frances, she reminded me about the Alize Party at Atlantis. I travelled back down there and was greeted by the same old doormen who have been working there for years (circa Wett Bar). I guess the industry is too lucrative for them to get real jobs, who knows? Anyhow, came in and enjoyed an Alize Martini courtesy of the Alize girls who were wearing nothing but a coat of paint (the shirts were quite believable) but their garb (or lack thereof) left for a really long lineup of guys waiting to be served. On my second round, I opted to hang out at the bar and grab a beer and then a shot of Jaeger with the barkeep to give him a good start for his night. The industry doesn’t change – same old, so I up and left.
Upon travelling home, I somehow wound back up at Inferno. I feel like a regular – probably will turn into one. I sat down, said hi to Ghalib, ordered a beer and finalized the plans for the 6th. We now have a drink that will be served: The Inferno Sunrise consisting of Vodka, Triple Sec, Cranberry Juice, Orange Juice and Soda. Potentially to be garnished by a cherry but let’s see. The boys from Inferno are off to a food show at the Pan Pacific this week – hope they do well, they’ve prepped a nice turkey, some great wraps and some awesome flatbread. Note to self, flatbread would be good for our party as well.
Nite nite!
